Building a Foundation for School Renewal: Phase I of the HIL School Renewal Process

This course is the second in a series of five courses designed to introduce school leadership teams to the School Renewal approach for sustainable positive change. The course takes participants into the first phase of a strengths-based approach to positive change with an emphasis on: * Determining a focus for positive change * Grounding that focus in the school’s mission and vision for student success * Adopting an appreciative and strengths-based approach to change * Creating a culture of learning for students and adults * Maintaining a growth mindset about students and their potential for success * Embracing growth opportunities * Distributing leadership across the school * Establishing a safe environment to foster trust * Establishing networking relationships to build capacity This course explores how School Renewal can be an alternative approach to deficit focused school change processes. High Impact leadership principles and practices of School Renewal can help schools reduce the complexity of change, avoid implementation pitfalls, and keep students at the center of all change initiatives.
